Goku vs Superman stuff got me thinking about this. I don't have knowledge about space and stars and all of that so this is for the ones who do: Who from DBZ can destroy the sun and how and what would it take?

Freeza definitely can't one shot a solar system but Cell most likely can (un-contradicted - science doesn't count).

As powerful as a giant death beam from Frieza is could it really affect the immense size of the sun to cause some sort of chain reaction to make the sun blow up?

The Sun has a huge amount of energy does it not? Wouldn't firing something at that huge ball of energy just make it bigger**
Edit:Typo plus sorry for the double post

I reckon they can. Cell probably couldn't destroy the solar system without getting the sun too.

In DBZ, SPC certainly could, as stated. I am a believer that Omega Yi Xing Long can destroy our entire Galaxy, chain reaction, but surely an attack Minus Energy Power Ball, is sufficient to eliminate much of the galaxy.

We're directly shown that Freeza can't destroy a planet without hitting the core. Perhaps if an opponent hits the core of the sun, it'll cause a chain reaction that will eventually blow up the sun. But to let's say create a blast that will engulf the actual sun, you'll have to be pretty high up on the totem poll. This is why I will never accept Cell blowing up the solar system, unless you're going to infer that the solar system in DBZ works on diferent properties and scales than the real solar system.

And until that is mentioned, you have no choice but to use the real solar system.

Same thing here. The biggest explosions in DBZ are planet size and this isn't even from the blast itself, this is just from the planet exploding. The sun, and this might be new so I apologize for anyone who doesn't know...is big.

Massive in fact....the massive planetary explosions from planets which far outstrip any blast radius ever seen in DBZ...is like a small fart from a baby otter still in its mother's pouch. Maybe in the DBZverse its possible, but you throw that stuff in the real world, Vegetto might give the sun an itch.

As I said a while ago, I think SSJ4 Gogeta has the power to destroy our galaxy from a single attack, but because the radius of the galaxy is actually giant chain should be by or Through many attacks. For example a person with a single blow, has the strength to crush tens of thousands of ants, however a person will never be able to kill as many ants in one stroke, not a lack of strength, but because the ants can be very separated from each other, for while our hand, it has a very large radius, to smash all the ants in one fell swoop.

Frieza destroy Planet Vegeta in his base, and that planet has 10x the mass of Earth.

Frieza could destroy a planet with his finger in his 1st form and Cell is stated to be a Solar System buster so yes, yes I belive most of the characters could destroy the sun.

Actually it was 10 times the gravitational force, not the mass.
Anyway, we discussed Cell's statament in another topic, and that's what I personally think about it.
So, I firmly believe everyone by SPC on could destroy the sun.
